Ryder Cup format
Here's an outline of the process for creating a standard Ryder Cup format for two 8-man teams. You can adjust it for your league...
PREPARATION:
- Create 18-hole league composed of 2 teams, 8 players per team, and 3 events
- Enter golfer's names & email addresses.
- Create schedule for league with 4 teetimes for each match.
- If you want to post reports after each event, select desired team report(s) to be displayed automatically after finalizing an event.
EVENT 1:
Format = 4 foursomes in which the two team members in each foursome alternate shots
Given this format you'll likely want to lock all handicaps to 0.
(Go to 1. Pre-Play - Manage. Check the box at the top of the left column. Click on the yellow pencil. Check the box to 'Set all handicaps to 0' & click on 'Save'.)
Configure Points (In League, click on 'Settings' and select 'Points') as follows…
Tab 1 (Score card) Scorecard displays Team vs. Team (2 vs. 2) foursomes
Tab 4 (Best Ball Competition): Points per hole = 1
In 2. Play, enter score in the top player of each two-team-member pair.
Click button 'Calculate cards now' then lock player scores/points.
In 3. Post-Play, Close & Finalize Event 1.
EVENT 2:
Format = 4 foursomes in which all golfers play their own ball but the best ball for each two-team-member pair is used for points
If you want to apply handicaps you can copy handicaps for each golfer from Event 3.
In 2. Play, enter score for each player.
Click button 'Calculate cards now' then lock player scores/points.
In 3. Post-Play, Close & Finalize Event 2.
EVENT 3:
Format = 8 singles matches in which all golfers play their own ball and compete against their opponent from the opposing team
Return to Event 1 as an Administrator. (In Main Menu, under Event, click on Administrator's 'active event #3' and select Event 1 in the next box that appears.)
While viewing Event 1, configure Points (In League, click on 'Settings' and select 'Points') as follows…
Tab 2 (Player vs Player): Points per Match (Match Play 'Most holes') = 1
Tab 4 (Best Ball Competition): Points per hole = 0
Go to 3. Post-Play, Close & Finalize Event 1 & then Event 2 to bring you back to Event 3.
In 2. Play, enter score for each player. Click button 'Calculate cards now'
In 3. Post-Play, Close & Finalize Event 3.
NOTES:
- Matches are determined by golfer position in their team. Golfer in position 1 on Team 1 competes against golfer in position 1 on Team 2, golfer in position 2 on Team 1 competes against golfer in position 2 on Team 2, etc. If you want to "mix" up the matches you can change a golfer's position on a team between rounds by clicking on the golfer's name in 1. Pre-Play.
- The Total Team Score can be used to determine the winner
